The sphere - Lighting study on simple shape (2016)

Done this last fall, oil painting on canvas 16 x 20 inches, in my art class @ Académie des Beaux-Arts de Montréal www.academ.ca/

I used to use acrylic for so many years, but my teacher convinced me that oil was better (I was introduced in painting with oil, when I was, like 8 years old... but when I was in college in art, I went with acrylic because it dries so fast, I could finish a work one night and give it to the teacher the next ), so here was my first attempt at oil painting in... 30 years @_@  

So, this exercice was to get the hang on the new medium, in monochrome to make it more simple for the introduction  
As you can see here: demielune.deviantart.com/art/S… , it wasn't my first time with the sphere, the most simple shape there is, and light (which is a GREAT exercice to understand all there is to know about light, shadows, bouncing light, etc.) I LOVE this exercice  

This as been done within 3 classes of about 3 hours each (I always take a long time to get installed with painting, but I also stay a little longer after the class, minus the time to wash my material = makes it hard to calculate accurately... It about 9-10 hours of work
