Done with photoshop and wacom intuos4
27 hours and 30 minutes.
In my artclass at www.academ.ca/ I'm doing a last "pure observation" project. Here's a male torso study with light & shadow work.
It's been a VERY long time since I painted digitally and I'm recently out of a very long/important "art blocage". Feeling very rusty.
So, like if I didn't marathon for a while, here, I started a simply exercice. To make my life easy for a first personal assignment, I went with the infamous and sacrilegious technique of tracing the first draw lines and first color strokes directly above the reference picture ( Body Paint 1 ). Shame on me, but no pressure! To goal is to get the hand on things. Anyhow, it didn't take long that I couldn't see the picture under anyway, so I had to work side by side with the reference.
This took about 27 hours and 30 minutes. I got crazy with the hatching at some point. It was an interesting study, it was also the first time I was working with the hatching technique. I like the texture it gave, but it also doubled the time it took to finish it. So I'm not sure I'll stick with this technique I'll try and experiment with other techniques for the next projects.

Really nice Demie! Superb colouring, posture, form, and the blue of the tattoo is really cool :D
It's as good as anything I have seen from some of the best on DA and I think you deserve more recognition for it.
